Capt. Bill’s Waterfront Restaurant is the oldest restaurant in Carteret County. The entire restaurant sits on pilings out over the beautiful waters of Bogue Sound. It began on the corner of Arendell and Ninth Streets in 1938 by Mr. Headen Ballou (later known as Capt. Bill) and was known as The Atlantic Cafe. One year later, he moved his restaurant down the street to the block between 7th and 8th Streets (still on Arendell Street) and reopened his restaurant naming it the Morehead Café.

RecommendedFood Delicious, Friendly, waitress, clean, loved the place.
Captains Platter is a great selection. I especially liked the Soft Shell Crab. Never eaten seafood there was not excellent.
It's really too bad this place closed. They had the best pussy grabbing south of the Mason Dixon. John Poag was really an expert pussy grabber.
Eaten there most summers for more than 60 years. Hope to be there again this summer!
What a wonderful place to have a great dinner and feel like you are at home. My niece and her son Billy and I had the pleasure of enjoying a great meal with a staff that was absolutely wonderful. Billy enjoyed making some very special friends at Captain Bill's and we will definitely be back!!! Thanks for making our visit such a pleasant and wonderful family experience :) Tara, Sue, Diane and the rest of the crew.....Billy said "you rock"!!!
