I’ve been seeing Dr. Byers for almost 13 years. She truly saved my life. She is smart, warm, and caring. Trialing meds for a mental health conditions is not easy - and many times the first, second, or even third med - doesn’t work optimally. That is not the provider’s fault. Everyone responds differently to different meds. She stuck with me to find the right med at the right dose. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to my close family and friends.
No coverage while Dr was out of office. I was unable to get my medication due to no response from office. This was not the first time. There has been a delay in receiving my medication on more than one occasion. Dr Byers was unconcerned and downright rude about it.
Pretty rude for a 'professional' of mental health. Unresponsive to patients requests. She really didn't like being called out on an error of her own doing.

I have been seeing Barbara Byers for 10 years and she has always been fantastic. She has helped me navigate my way through 3 pregnancies, 1 miscarriage, and an affair. Even though she is in Maryland, I make the trip to see her.
I don’t understand the other reviews for Dr. Byers. I think she’s absolutely fantastic! She combines intelligence and warmth effortlessly, and I truly feel as though we are partners in my medical care. I recently voiced concern about my meds no longer feeling effective. She listened to me and gave me some options which we discussed, and then together, we came up with a game plan. Working with her is a true partnership, and I’m so thankful to have found her. Her assistant Florence is awesome too!
Almost ruined my life
I suffer from generalized anxiety, social phobia, and panic disorder, and depression. Since the age of 16 I have been medicated for these conditions and have been able to live a normal successful life...until she refused to continue to prescribe benzodiazepines. I was up for the challenge and excited to get off of benzodiazepines. After 7-10 days I became a agoraphobic, I did not leave my house for over a month. I switched doctors and I am back working and enjoying my social life.
