This summer it has been 10 years since I was a camper in Ferndale, New York. The summer of 2007 was the first time in my young adult life that I got to feel what true confidence feels like. I was in camp Shane in 2015 it was best part of year in my life, i met new people found out many interesting things about health, the staff is helpful and carrying, they know how to talk to different type of children, like me im from lil country name georgia i was shy in begining but then they helped me not get in that situation and get to used to it. This place was like prison for me. Attended 6 weeks in 2005. I was treated like crap by my fat phobic counselor and was actually lied to during the tour of the camp as to what activities I would get to do. Fat camp in general is a completely stupid idea for anyone who has a serious amount of weight to lose. There is no possible way to maintain eating barely anything and exercising all day everyday unless you intend on keeping your child out of school and from living a normal life. In my opinion this is the worse weight loss camp out there. It is way over priced, the meals are not healthy and they basically starve you so you will gain it all back quickly when you return home. The facilities are disgusting, overcrowded cabins, bunk beds that look like they will collapse, no hot water. The owner only cares about getting your money, not the health and well being of the campers. Get insurance if you have campers with medical issues because they will not return a dime, even if a camper is there only one day... read more
