Great place to chill This place has awesome, fresh coffee and serves beer too. They don't really have the best pastries in the world, but who cares. They have a huge deck where you can sit and people watch to no end.

Fun and offbeat coffee house Caffe Pergolesi is a fun place near downtown. It is in an old big house with ample seating in and outside. The coffee is good and beats going to a chain coffee joint. There are usually the young crowd hanging out.

the coffee was bitter the staff was rude and frankly the couches could have used more cushions

Business response:

Seriously???? This cafe has been closed for almost 3 years. Where have you been? Maybe you're just at troll and have never even been there when it was open. RIP Caffe Pergolesi

Been around since the '70's - a Santa Cruz tradition. Annnnd it just closed down. Millennials flocking to the hygenic safety of Starbucks, and tech millionaires who moved here for the groovy, and realized groovy means real live hippies, street kids, second hand stores, and used books. Madmen, artists and musicians. So money moves in, wipes all the character that brought them here out.

I loved this place. I came here because I'm allergic to milk and coffee haha. Really and the Perg was the only one who never messed up my order of hot chocooate with soy. They made it perfect too, just got enough so when I get to work it was still hot. I used to go to the Perg in my teens to now. Went on dates there. Studied there. Went there with my good longtime friend Gracie. When I found out I was pregnant we came here, my friends and I 19 years ago. Good times. So incredibly sad. All the staff was always wonderful.

This place was a legendary local Santa Cruz hangout. It will be sorely missed.
