Best Location of Them All -- Friends of Dorothy, Must GO! – Every single time my partner and I are craving some Mexi meat, we run over to this particular Cafe Rio location because the service is superb. They consistently give a little extra meat over the other locations! I realize they don't know us by name (yet), but they certainly remember us and are always nice to us. The grilled chicken burrito is my favorite sans cheese, and my partner loves chicken tortilla soup (he's on a diet). The mint limeade is superb. Oh my gosh.... read more
OMG! DO NO MISS THIS!!! – OMG is an understatement. You will never taste anything else like this. Freakin amazing!!!! I guess that is why they win awards every year. I can't even categorize this food they are in a category of their own.........amazing!! If you are from out of town and have never eaten at Cafe Rio DO NOT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY. The most popular dish is the Pork Barbacoa salad and my fav. Order with the house dressing (tomatillo) I promise you will be hooked. A wonder for the mouth the devil for your ass! Truly... read more
I LIKE IT! – I have like Cafe Rio since the first time I tried it. The portions are big and I like the flavors. The only thing I will say in a negative manner is the quality of how its put together has been a little off. No pride in their work from the employees and the friendliness is short of excellent.
I don't get it. – What is the deal with this place? It isn't even good. No flavor in anything. I have eaten there probably 4-5 times. Each time I say, "maybe this time will be different." But it is always the same. Very generic food. I prefer Red Iguana or Cancun Cafe to this place.
Come on, your loosing your edge – I just went to the Cafe Rio on 33rd So in Salt Lake City. I order the barbacoa barrito. All Beans and rice. The gal that took my order Put very little pork in and then took half out. I eaten there several times but this was horrible. I think your getting a little to big for your own good and you need to hire hispanics that like gringos. I won't gop back.
I first tried this place back in 2005, when former co-workers were raving about the food and the flavor. I should have known better. In that first trip, I went for one of the burrito plates and asked that they smother it in the hottest sauce they had. That was when I started calling this place "Cafe Bland" and referring to their cuisine as "European Mexican." The chicken had zero flavor, the rice was bland, and the so-called "hot sauce" was no warmer than your run of the mill bottle of ketchup. Every time I tell this story, ... read more
You should like them – These guys are great. They cost more than McD's but they will actually fill a large man up
I Always Do Takeout – I rarely go to Cafe Rio to sit and eat. Life is just too busy for me. I like being able to call ahead for my take out and have it ready when I get there and know that the quality of the food is worth the money. This is where Cafe Rio works for me. The portions are huge and you have a variety of choices. I like the Barbacoa Salad with the house dressing. Its usually too much to eat at one time so I finish it off as a late night snack.
Great burrito – I had the pork burrito and was definitely impressed. I will be back to try the other things. I'm a bit surprised no one else has written here yet about it.

Cafe Rio is closed now. It will open at 11:00 a.m.
