Overpriced! – After hearing good things, we checked out this restaurant. For two people, we spent a total of $42 for breakfast! I had the spanish omlette which consisted of eggs with some bland salsa thrown on top. The orange juice was the best part of the meal. Service was ok. With as many wonderful breakfast places in Portland, I would not recommend this place for the money we spent.
European bistro on a budget – We were delighted the moment we walked in with the simple decor and friendly ambience. The menu is limited and they also have daily specials. Yesterday's was a shiitake mushroom and scallop omelet that I'll remember as one of the best omelets I've ever had. My wife had their fresh smoked salmon and eggs which she thought was excellent. The lower seating area has about eight tables and has the European feel where you are seated near others but easily feel your own privacy. The staff was very frie... read more
A different French Toast experience – Being accustomed to the traditional French Toast (American style) usually inclusive of cinnamon and nutmeg swimming in hot maple syrup, I was pleasently surprised to enjoy a different French toast experience @ Cafe du Berry. A crispy outer skin drizzled with a lemony flavored coating dusted with powdered sugar. My take was a more gourmet French toast than your standard diner fare....very tasty but not filling. If you in search of the lumberjack breakfast - go some place else. Service was... read more
Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors – Homey bistro serves breakfast until 3pm every day. Lunch includes sandwiches and salads; dinner offers meat and seafood dishes.
THE WORST EVER – This is the worst restaurant that I have ever gone to. The waiter was very rude to the customers and even other employees. It took almost an hour to get our food which was only waffles and French toast. When the food finally arrived, it was extremely disappointing.
two words french toast – I can't say enough about this place. The waitstaff is great, the french toast is like no other. Coming here is such a treat.
Mediocrity – We had high hopes. Unfortunately, the food was only mediocre. My wife got the French toast, which was ok but not great. With that, she got a few grapes, a bit of banana, and a bit of hash browns. She is only 125 lbs., but left hungry. My omelet was edible, but sub-par compared with other breakfast places around town. The wait-staff was stretched way too thin! We waited over half an hour for our food. I noticed on a table near us a plate with burned waffles that had actually been served to the customer! The food ... read more
Divine – A treasure of a restaurant. Wait staff are courterous and genuinely friendly. The atmosphere is inviting, pleasant and comfortable. Menu choices rarely change and the freshness and quality of the food are obviously top priority. Prices may seem a bit on the spendy side, but well worth the money as only the finest ingredients are prepared with painstaking attention to bringing out the rich flavor of their signature dishes.
Awful! – This place is terrible. I write this only to spare you the experience we had on a Saturday morning. We must have waited for over an hour to get an Eggs Benedict that was not even cooked, the meat was a funny color, and the hollandaise was frightening. Don't make the same mistake we did!
