We offer California Mexican style cuisine. Meaning that we are not your typical "authentic" mexican fare. We pride our selves in our food. We prepare it Fresh twice daily. Nothing is Pre-prepared. Cooking everything without any extra animal fat, using only chicken breast meat and 100% certified angus beef.

Excellent California-inspired Mexican. North Raleigh's Best Kept Secret! – On the recommendation of friends, my husband & I dined at Cafe Capistrano last night & were totally blown away. We arrived at 6:30 & were seated fairly promptly, which was pure luck as the place was swamped 5 minutes after our arrival. Great food....great everything! – We have been to this restaurant many times.....and it is wonderful.....obviously we keep coming back each week! Initially when we moved to Raleigh, we tried a lot of different restaurants. We loved Chipotle. We loved Moe's. But we LOVE Cafe Capistrano. We keep coming back for the food, the chips and salsa, and the staff. We are so happy that we live so close....so we can get our cravings satisfied. We've gone with couples who have kids and they are able to accomodate.
AWESOME SALSA AND GAUCAMOLE – My family and I have eaten at Cafe Capistrano numerous times and have always enjoyed eating there. My wife always gets the chicken chimichanga and I am stuck on their fish tacos. The food always tastes fresh and the prices are good considering we always have enough to take home. The kids enjoy the kids quesadillas and wedding cake. Good food ... Good servive... Highly recommend it !!
Make sure you're not in a hurry... – 1. The service is slow and annoying. Our server was irritated by each request and did not want to answer questions. 2. Just because the word "vegan" is on the menu does not mean that they mean it. 3. The guacamole is wonderful. 4. The food is just fine, but the quality is no better than what you get at Moe's.
Best mexican food around – My friends and I heard about this new place and thought we would check it out. turns out it was the best mexican food we had eaten in along time. The atmosphere was nice and cozy. Very friendly staff. The portinos of food were way more than we could eat. The guacamole was fresh and delicious. Horrible food, worse service – Went to Cafe Capistrano on Greg Cox's review/advice. It was awful. The mango shrimp appetizer had stale soggy flour shells with a tiny bit of avocado, a limp shrimp, and was drizzled with a blah mango sauce. Didn't see any real mango anywhere. It was among the worst things I've ever eaten in both texture and taste. My dining companion had a burrito that was HUGE, but bland and, by his account very uninteresting. Wonderful value – The price was right and the food was great. It is a departure from the type of Mexican food one can normally get in the triangle... I would describe it as being more "east coast". We were pleased with the food and the fast service. When the bill came, we were pleasantly surprised because it "tasted" more expensive than it was.
Good food-- Odd service – My wife and I visit this place as one of our favorites. The food is great and the service is usually pretty good. This time the service was, I 'd have to say "odd". On our most resent visit , we arrived at 5:00p.m. for dinner (which is when it opens for dinner).
