The storage units seem to be very secure. The foundation to the units is around a half a foot or so off the ground, so while there is a step to get into your unit, I feel like it cuts down on the odds of pests randomly finding themselves in your unit. The grounds are covered in gravel, so it isn't a very good environment for wild mice to live in (which is a good thing).
