My wife has always wanted to come here so while we were in NYC celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary we made sure to make reservations. We started with the Gnocchi Mac n cheese and heirloom carrots, figs, and feta. Then I got the double cut pork chop with onions and sauteed kale and my wife got the N.Y. strip steak with wild mushrooms both where delicious. The bread and butter was heavenly. The gnochi mac n cheese were little billowy clouds of pasta w/cheese!! Our new York steak with hen of the woods mushroom were prepared to our liking...med-rare and medium for hubby. Wait staff knew menu well and was attentive without being in our face too much. Loved the decor.
We celebrated my daughters birthday and had a wonderful time. Food was excellent! They were very busy the night we were there and yes there may have been times we had to pour our own wine but we handled it! Absolutely loved the gnocchi mac & cheese, best gnocchi we have ever had! The service at this restaurant was quite awful. The bartender never made our drinks, we didn't receive plates for our shared appetizers, and highly recommended foods were just "ok". I will say however the chicken dish was amazing, as was the sea bass which is why it received 3 stars. The steak was so so, which is not good for the price. Our waiter tried to do his best with service, but the restaurant was over all poorly run, and way too expensive for the experience. We will not be returning.
I've been looking forward to going to Chef Alex's restaurant for a long time. The food was very good, the raspberry beignets truly memorable. However, the waitress we had was very disappointing. She was nice but when asked if the warm potato salad had egg in it she said, "I don't think so, but if it does you won't taste it." And we waited 20 minutes while my wine glass sat empty, before she asked if I wanted something else...and our enters hasn't been served. Exceptional food! Only thing that would have made it better would have to meet Alex Guarnaschelli!
The dishes are amazing. I loved the salmon as a main course and the octopus 🐙 as entry is stunning.
