Ever wonder why there's a cue snaking out of that red curtain in the lobby ofLe Parker Meridien? It's because in the middle of this swanky hotel, tucked away, is the most basic hole-in-the-wall Burger Joint. The burgers are still awesome, but this place is far from being the deal it was – I haven't been there in a while, and made a pit stop tonight. The burger is still awesome, but that is where it stops. The fries were average, even with alot of salt, and @ $6.50 for a plain burger (up from $4.50 2 + years ago when my office moved nearby), my $11.25 tab, including a Coke, is certainly no bargain. They been midtown/tourist corrupted in a fast way.
Awsome Burger, Great Location – Not the easiest place to find and definitely not a place you would think to look for in the Parker Medrien Hotel, didnt expect the hotel to be so posh! Almost walked out of the hotel until we saw the neon burger sign inbetween to the brown curtains and lobby. Even as we were walking down the dark hallway I thought maybe the place was closed. You walk into the place and suddenly the noise hits you, the music and the noise from all the ppl in there. Make sure you know what you want on your burge... read more
Good burger, a bit overpriced – This is a no-frills burger place; basically they have burgers, cheeseburgers, and fries. The burgers are pretty simple too, fresh beef with all of the standard toppings. That said, its a very good burger, cooked to order, juicy, and fresh. The burgers are good sized, not so big that you can't bite into them, but big enough to leave you satisfied. One thing to note is that they use dijon mustard; not really my preference for a burger, but still good. The fries are very crispy, and served in a g... read more
Great burgers but the price ehhhh.... – You order without the greeting just walk up and say what you want, make sure you read the instructions first written on cardboard above the register. I had " cheeseburger medium the works" . While ordering you got a clear view of their grill with pattys cooking away. Once i got my burger i bit into and it was great juicy on the inside cooked perfectly medium pink in the middle crusty char-grilled on the outside. Although the burger was good i would say it is a pricey 7.00 dollar burger... read more
Great Burger and Atmosphere – Great burger, great locale, what else can you ask for? My husband said it was the best place we've eaten at in New York so far on our trip. Yeah, the cooks shout your order, but they have to. Otherwise you wouldn't hear over the crowd of people :) I had a cheeseburger with everything except onions. Great fries, crisp and hot! The chocolate shake we ordered had a little bit too much vanilla for my taste. Overall, very enjoyable.
What is all the fuss about? – I read rave reviews about this place, but I really don't get it. The burger ($6.50) is very average. There is nothing special about the patty. And the buns are like the kind you can get at the grocery store - 6 in a pack for $1. The fries ($3) try to mimic McDonald's. The burgers at Shake Shack and Corner Bistro are better.
Burger Perfection! – Seriously, what is up with New York not having a decent burger anywhere unless it's at Lugers or made with Kobe beef?! Finally, after years of searching (sorda) I heard about this shrewd, delicious joint. I went last night, the place was alive (with the cooks screaming orders that is) and I ordered my Cheeseburger w/ lettuce, tomato, mayo and ketchup. A minute later it was wrapped in paper and in my hands. The first bite was amazing. A succulent, juicy, tasty, perfectly thick (two inch) patty on a perfec... read more
Be an – This place is an awesome lunch spot that used to be one of New York's best kept secrets. Well, the secret is out. I work near by and lunch there often, the key is to arrive close to the opening time which is 11:30 on weekdays. The staff are experts, their accuracy and efficiency is unparallel. Also, go in the evening for relative quiet and linger over burgers, fries and the pitchers of beer.
Can't get the doneness right? – It's amazing, but a place that specializes in cooking burgers should be able to figure out how to cook a medium rare burger. Many times it comes out of the kitchen too well done, which is not fun after waiting in a long line.
