Stay away from Joe Brusco!!! This rental broker is completely unprofessional and bullies his clients. He's pushy, rude, and behaves like a used car salesman. Arrogant enough to tell clients that they are making a stupid decision if they pass up one of his properties. He'll hound you, take your money, and then be totally unresponsive when you need him to take action.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!!! I have lived in the city for the last ten years but the last year renting from them is absolutely a nightmare in terms of the condition of the apartment and the experience of dealing with them. When I returned the key to the my apartment which I left in clean condition I was told that I would receive my deposit in 45 days. Now 100+ days later I still do not have my deposit. I have left numerous messages for Orchid in their rental office, but she does not return the calls and appears uninterested in resolving this any time soon if at all. With each passing day I have to wonder if I will ever get my deposit back. I personally would not rent from Brusco Realty again based upon this experience.

My friend has lived in 2 different Brusco properties, for many years, because his experience was positive, and the properties are charming. He did not want to leave but business took him out of the city. Brusco was very nice to him, as he relinquished his great apartment, no problem getting security, but then again he always paid on time and was a good tenant. I love the apartment and its location, but the management is terrible. Unfortunately I was not told the name of the overarching CitiHabitats part in this, or else I would never have signed the lease. And I agree with the negative experiences. I have been living in this Brusco Apartment since April and have had a terrible experience. Avoid Brusco Management at all costs! I moved out of one of their apartments 3 1/2 months ago and they STILL have not refunded my security deposit to me. I did everything by the book, always paid my rent on time, no damage to the apt, etc, and upon moving out was assured that I would receive my security deposit within 60 days (as per my lease). Being a long time resident of the upper west side and living in the same apt. for over 25 years (thanks to the compassion and understanding of the Brusco's) I can only rebuke anything negative about the entire Brusco Family. For years I felt like I had to apologize to anyone coming over to my apt. for the first time as the entry and hallways were atrocious! In reading some of the comments posted here on City Search, I am quite disheartened. Such vitriol. The Brusco’s, like all of us, are trying to earn a living…nothing more, nothing less. Why do you folks feel the need to vent in a public posting? If you have a problem, then man up and approach them directly, not under the guise of a silly pseudonym.
