My son was in the NICU under Dr Bruce’s care having been born early and underweight. They did not feed my baby the first day he was there because of his weight, so my child was understandably extremely fussy. He asked me if I had abused drugs in my pregnancy because babies act fussy if they’ve been through drug withdrawals. Being in the NICU under Dr Bierd and Dr Bruce's care was the biggest nightmare of our life. Please if you are there now, request a transfer to UAB (as we did after ultimately a MONTH of being lied to and being held hostage. They threatened us daily that she would get a court order to remove or daughter from our care. They refused to answer any of our questions. I had a daughter a month ago that was under Doctor Bruce’s care. I was very happy with our experience. Dr Bruce was ALWAYS around and available to answer my questions. I saw him multiple times a day and my thoughts were included in the decision making process. He always made sure both my daughter and I had everything we needed and that we were comfortable in our stay. The other NICU doctor at STVHS Is Dr Bierd. She took care of my son four years ago- and I have only good things to say about her as well.
