I had a house fire over 2 years ago. The fire occurred on a Friday evening I reported it to my insurance company immediately, and was offered no advice on what to do. Several days went by with very little input from the insurance company. (They mentioned nothing about temporary housing ). After water damage to our house we didn't realize how frustrating and challenging it would be to return our home to normal. Getting low-balled on the estimate by our insurance company was unexpected. This is typical of this representative and the company he works for, but I am glad that it was resolved, even thought it took them so long to do so.

In your case, your insurer complicated the situation by not making any effort to consider the damages and delaying responses for weeks.
