KC comes to Denver – Its been a few years- but I was living off of Monaco and 12th street having moved from Kansas city and couldnt find bar-BQ from anybody short of making the 600 mile trip back and forth to KC... when the Brothers opened up shop not far from me. My Wife, her sister, and her sisters boyfriend, all natives from KS were regulars and the boys know how to make good BBQ! Keep it up. In fact, I have a License plate or two on the wall! Good eats.... Good but not the best – Brothers BBQ is indeed a good BBQ but it is not the best in the Denver area. The ribs (which is what we are talking about here) are very good, dry cooked and delicious but Blest BBQ in Littleton has slowly smoked ribs and the best sauce in the west.
Great BBQ – This is the best BBQ I have found in Denver. The sauce is perfect and the meat is pretty lean.
Hit or Miss? – I have been to Brothers twice now. The first time I really enjoyed the ribs and chicken. I decided to go back. This time I went to there new location on Arapahoe road. The food was so bad, I asked for my money back. The ribs were all bone and the chicken was raw. I wont be going back to any of the locations after that dinner!
southernplayalistic – being from a culinary background, and having traveled all around the world experiencing many different bbq styles, being that is my preferred "genre" of food i would have to put brothers bbq in 1st ranking due to the style and flavor of their food, as well, the customer service and great prices every time i have entered their doors. knowing about them for 3 years now i must admit that i have to get my 'fix' of bbq from there at least once a week (and an awesome place to watch the broncos)!!!
INSTITUTIONAL CUE , BOILED AND GRILLED – IT IS AMAZING TO ME HOW MANY RESTAURANTS WHO SAY THEY FEATURE BBQ DO NOT DO THE AUTHENTIC STYLE BBQ. IT IS EITHER BAKED, BOILED AND THEN GRILLED TO GET EFFECT OF BBQ. THIS IS AN IMPOSTER WHEN IT COMES TO THE OLD FASHIONED BBQ.
so-so ribs – Is this really the best bbq place in Denver? Are these really the best ribs? For a city so surrounded by farms I have to say I'm surprised. Go 600 miles east to Kansas City and check out a barbecue joint, ANY barbecue joint, and you'll find better ribs. More tender, better rub, better sauce. Places like Brothers just wouldn't cut it there, and I'm kinda surprised it does here in Denver. Not that Brothers is completely terrible, but it's just not what I would consider exceptional barbecue.
Darn Good BBQ – I am from TN, and there is no BBQ like that from home, but Brothers is pretty close to the real thing. Great sauces, good brisket. However, in my Southern opinion, good BBQ pork shoulder should be pulled, not sliced, for the best results, texture and taste.
Take stock in some napkins – Once trying Brother's, I won't go anywhere else. All the meat was lean and tender. The sauce, perfectly tangy. The service was just as good as the food, and the restaurant clean. I constantly recommend it to everyone.
