Was there yesterday to get checked out after an MVA. The doctor was great, explained procedures and what to expect, the RN was wonderful and spoke so gently and kindly to me. The XRay tech was very nice and personable. However. The woman at the front desk is another story. I was clearly really bothering her by being there. Spoke pretty rudely. I am sitting here in a room right now and this is my go to ER with any issues. Tonight, Dr Slane, Stephanie, Mark and my other nurse were all outstanding. Every member of the staff that I have come across has been amazing with the exception of ONE individual: a young man who mans the front desk for check ins. In my last two visits he has 1: not updated my insurance info at check-in resulting in me having to personally follow up with my insurance of BCBS who ultimately denied the claim due to the error. Worst experience I’ve ever had in a hospital. My nurse was amazing and so helpful but the doctor was terrible. I laid there for hours crying in pain and was told by the doctor 3 times that he would give me pain medicine and then would be told by the nurses that he said not to give me any. I was sent home four hours later without a single bit of medicine or help. I’m a 19 year old girl and was being treated like a drug seeker. This is the first time I feel like the doctor hated his job and didn’t want to do anything. The vibe he gave like I am ready to leave today. Never I ever had this happen to me. I pay the high co pay for a reason to be treated like people care. This time I wish if I went to UAB or anywhere else other than dealing with this doctor. Did only CT scan and draw blood, with abdominal pain apparently, the doctor said ibuprofen will do fine.
Dr. Real and the entire staff were great. We couldnt have asked for better care with my wife’s recent kidney stone. Thank you all so very much.
