My Mother has been in Brookdale Senior living in Florham Park, NJ and is currently residing in Brookdale in Northampton,PA. In NJ, Brookdale took my Mother's phone away and refused to allow me to speak to my Mother. In Northampton,PA my Mother was injured by their faulty door and needed emergency care. On 4/17/21, my sister sat in her bed, in excruciating pain for 3 hours. She pushed the nurses call button continuously within the three hours trying to get someone to help her but nobody came. My other sister and I both called Brookdale Willowbrook in Houston, Texas over and over and we never got to talk to anyone because no one would answer the phones. If your elderly loved one is hospitalized from Assisted Living, be wary if Brookdale insists they go to "nurse assist/rehab" and refuses to take them back right away from the hospital, on the basis that they'll "get more rehab" in a nurse assist/rehab nursing home. Placements in these from the hospital are on a bed availability basis, and you more often than not will find your loved one place in a low rate, poorly reviewed facility. I moved my older brother into Brookdale Senior Living in Paradise Valley Arizona. Wesley W****** the sales manager was extremely courteous and very professional. The Apartment was very roomy and has a wonderful view. I highly recommend this community.

A family placing a loved one into long-term care is in the most vulnerable position and false promises sound like hope. They were dishonest with us from the start. I don't trust the judgement of (some of) the staff and management. Lost possessions, lack of communication about health concerns, and a traumatic visit with an unqualified psychiatrist are additional reasons for my poor rating.

Brookdale of Orland Park is currently having multiple issues that have caused concerns with family members and residents. They have had high turnover in administration (5 executive directors in 3 years). This has led to disorganization which negatively impacts the staff and residents. Communication is extremely poor, and it is difficult to have concerns addressed in a timely manner. Brookdale Senior Living is a greedy, profit-driven sham of a company. They pretend to be oh so caring for the elderly, but do not be fooled. They care about only one thing, and that is profits. I wish I could give zero stars. I'm sure they must pay their workers peanuts, and for most of them it reflects in their attitudes. They are slow, lazy and surly. Brookdale Senior Living is only interested in profit, not caring for people with dementia. My mother was assaulted by another resident with Alzheimer's. I don't blame him. The residents were unsupervised and management refused to staff up to create a safe environment. Once we started complaining, my mom got evicted for being a harm to others. She was the one who was hit! She's at home now. Brookdale is the worst!!
