We have been using Brodie Animal Hospital for 7 years. They are kind and caring. The center is very clean and they are efficient. They are competitively priced for experienced animal doctors.
Not the best.... – We have been bringing our cats to BAH for several years. We did just switch vets, however, and I'm very glad we did. BAH didn't do anything particularly wrong; their vets are knowledgeable and most of their techs are wonderful. The place, to us, is simply a bit too sterile (and by that I don't mean too clean ... I mean that there is a generic business feel to the place that leaves it and its employees somewhat distant and uncaring). There are, in my opinion, too many vets and techs working there. Love these vets – This is by far the best vet care my pets have ever had. I feel lucky and I am appreciative of all the vets and tech's that work there. I had a 2 year old dog I had to put to sleep and they could not have been more supportive. The are kind, intelligent and stay on the cutting edge with new procedures and techniques. It appears the only thing people are concerned about is costs and waiting times, really!! I base my opinion ONLY on their extraordinary care and concern for my babies! Love them!!!!
Please do your research before thinking you know – 1. Dentals are expensive no matter where you go (some places more than others) 2. pets must go under anesthesia to have their teeth cleaned. You try cleaning a cat/dogs teeth with the same tools used for peoples and see how far you get. 3. Heartworm preventative is a PRESCRIPTION medication. You are required to have a negative heartworm test every year to continue getting it. If your dog happens to get heartworms and is given heartworm preventative, it can be fatal. 4. Many ... read more
Go elsewhere – I have never been treated so poorly - they will berate you if you don't go through with their suggestions. They wanted me to pay over $350 to have my 8 yr. old dogs teach cleaned. They said she needed to be put under to have the procedure done. Right! Also, I asked them not to take a heartworm test because she took heartworm pills and they performed the test anyway and charged me for it. TO EXPENSE – I agree with grossly overcharging posted 10/2008. This is exactly what happened to me with my diabetic 12 yr dog. They do not like for you to use PetsMed even though they are cheaper and the Meds are pkg in ice packs and overnighted- i.e.Brodie $50.00 a vial - Petmeds overnights $38.00 a vail total on multi , I go through a vial every 31/2 weeks you do the math and Brodie had the nerve to hand me a letter about this. Nice people but grossly overcharging the customers – I previously lived in Northwest Austin and took my pets to Northwest Hills Vet clinic, a clinic at which I was highly impressed with. My wife and I moved to South Austin six years ago. Upon the recommendation of a friend I took my two dogs in for their annual shots and was charged over $500. Too big for their britches – I've been taking my animals to Brodie for 3 years now and much like the Westgate Vet Hospital (where we were before), Brodie Animal Hospital has also gotten too big for their britches. I loved the care my animals were getting from the entire staff and it was priced reasonable enough but the bigger they have gotten, the more expensive they have gotten. We have started feeling more like a number (or a boat payment). Goodbye BAH.
By FAR, the BEST VET in Austin! – This hospital has always been, by far, the best in Austin. They genuinely care, they're professional, and they work hard to insure that your pet is healthy. I've read some negative reviews regarding cost- well, you get what you pay for and BAH is 100% worth the cost. I'm a strong believer that if you can't afford GOOD healthcare for your pet, you probably shouldn't HAVE a pet. Thank you, Brodie, for being "top dog"!
