I spent 5 and a half months there and I am beyond grateful to the staff and clients. It is a program that can honestly give you your life back if you put the work in. The recovery workers, Counsellors, facilitators, bubble, staff, custodians, the secretary Crystal, nurse practitioner, Robyn, and the Manager, Amy and Director, Naomi and I am sure I missed some are just amazing humans and truly treat you just like a friend they are rooting for. The website looks great, staff is very reassuring when you contact them regarding treatment, the intake process is within a week as estimated...then they let you know you'll only need to wait a half a year 🥺 Why not say that in the first place instead of discouraging you after getting your hopes up. My son won't make it that long. 20 days clean and sober and no one to help him continue although it sure sounds like it when you first contact them. Such a let-down and deceiving.
My girlfriend was treated very poorly by the staff here. They messed up her medications, which sent her to the ICU in Owen Sound hospital for four days. The director said they would hold a bed for her. After four days, the nursing staff phoned Brightshores. They had given away her bed. Said she could no longer able to be admitted. There were no long-term programs available ONLY withdrawal management. I had to drive her all the way to Barrie detox from Owen Sound. Stay away. They don't care about people here at this detox.
