Staff was pleasant and the sushi was good. – I sat a the sushi bar and enjoy a couple of rolls. Both of which were good. Service was good and the chef was friendly. But nothing stood out about this restaurant for me.

One of the best sushi in town – I live in North Beach and I come here probably three times a week. Food is good - it's great for vegetarians, they have a veggie sushi plate which you will never find anywhere else. Reasonably priced for mid-sized portions. Excellent service - Katsu, the owner of the restaurant, always greets and talks to his customers. I like the atmosphere a lot, it's never noisy. And it's never super busy, but if you're going with a large group, you should make a reservation. Taking everything into account ... read more

This North Beach sushi outpost has won raves with its unique rolls and fresh sashimi. – In Short Experimentation is the name of the game here and once you've got the sushi etiquette down, you'll enjoy picking creative combinations from the menu. Classic sushi lovers can stick to basics like California and avocado rolls, while adventurous diners can try the ultimate roll with foie gras and eel and the buffalo with chicken teriyaki and avocado. Regional sakes from Japan's finest breweries are also on hand should you want to ge... read more

cheap, quick service – i like this place but actually havent been there in a while as i dread parking in north beach. i always order the special which comes with a salad, shrimp/veggie tempura, salmon teriyaki, a few pieces of tuna sashimi, california rolls and rice. Uber food for like $15. Also like their foie gras over tuna sashimi. It's a small, cozy place- good eats.

blah – I wanted to like this place since i live in north beach but i was far from impressed. It has a nice small cozy atmosphere but their food lacks anything to be excited about and is dull on flavor and fish quality was only ok. We tried a few of their special rolls which were only ok. Sake was alright as well. Service was pretty fast. I won't be returning though as I don't think there's anything worth going back for.

Must UNAGI be GREEN ??? – As fervent sushi lovers we were deeply disappointed by our eating experience in this so-called sushi paradise... the waiter claimed that sushi was 'too expensive" for him, thus he knew close to nothing about it... to the extent that he claimed that the disgustingly GREENISH UNAGI (eel) he served "should probably look that way...". Our appetite which was tempered by the garrish surroundings and so-so service to begin with, vanished completely after one careful nibble from the suspicious dish... NOT T... read more

NB Sushi – I agree, this place is a great spot for sushi in NB. Its cozy and the chefs make you feel at home when you come in. If you are looking for a place to be seen, this isn't it, but if you just want a nice dinner and good sushi- this is it!

NB Local – This place is great. The reviwer is obviously needs a flashy setup in order to give something a good rating. The sushi is always fresh and the staff is always frinedly. Katsu is adventurous in his menu and always tries to get you to try new things. He makes it an experience. If you want flashy go elsewhere. If you want friendly, delicious and fresh than this place is tough to beat.

Take it from a real J. person.... – ...N. Beach sushi is good. It's been my place of choice for awhile, along with Kabuto. Fresh fish, prepared with care, and a nice sake selection, which is not overpriced. It's a lot better than the ones that seen to attract the big followings in SF. It's not an event/posin' sushi place. It's more like what you might expect from your neighborhood sushi place in Japan, with a little American flair (after all, the 'hood here is N. Beach, not Namba). Ok, I never eat overly ambitious combinatio... read more
