On February 6th I took my cat to the ER at Blue Pearl in Overland Park because she was wobbly and disoriented. She was kept there for more than two hours although she was the only one in ER. The veterinarian told me she could have an ear infection and she needed a complete blood test. At check out, they brought her in the carrier with meds for the ear. I paid $700. While driving home, at a red stop light I opened the carrier and saw her collapsed on a side. At home we realized she was paralyzed on her back legs and was tw... read more

I would strongly suggest that this facility make adjustments to how they treat beloved pets and their owners, especially those undergoing euthanasia. The vet that we had was cold and disinterested. He did not explain the euthanasia process or where it would take place, and we had to ask multiple staff members what was going on. We were shuffled to a total of 4 different rooms. Finally, a different vet was able to explain what the process would be. The most offensive part, however, was the utter lack of respect that we were... read more

I am so grateful to Blue Pearl Overland Park, Ks. There is a veterinarian shortage in my city (I later learned it is nation wide) so I drove 70 miles to have my dog’s eye infection treated. Everyone was pleasant, concerned and professional. The fees were not out of line and so worth my baby’s health. Thank you Dr Dodi!

March 15 we took our puppy to Blue Pearl for an emergency. We were told he would need to stay overnight for observation. We could call anytime to check on his progress as he was touch and go when admitted. We checked on him once at night and the call first thing in the morning to check on him went unreturned (we were told we would get a call back after shift change). 2.5 hours later I called again to check and make sure he made it through the night. The Doctor who came on the phone LAUGHED when I asked how my puppy did ove... read more

I took my Sheltie to Blue Pearl March 4, 2022, at approximately 7:00 in the evening because blood was showing up in her water dish. She was diagnosed and we were advised she had several serious complications. We could take her home for essentially hospice care. We decided against that option and wanted her to be interned at Rolling Hills pet cemetery. since we had 2 of our collies there. We were told there was no way they would be able to get her there. My wife told me she really didn't think it was a good idea for me t... read more

I took my dog to Blue Pearl in a panic while he was experiencing a seizure. Blue Pearl's ER team went right to work to stabilize him. From there, I received constant updates from Dr. Bragg on analysis, root cause, and treatment plans. Both Dr. Gardner and Dr. Bragg did a great job getting my dog into care plan to save his life. I'm only leaving 4 stars instead of 5 due to miscommunication regarding the billing. However, I promptly received a call from the financial coordinator to address my concerns. I appreciate Andy's help... read more

Worst place to take your pet that is in distress and needs a cat scan to get a diagnosis. We got to the ER at 6:00 am and by 10:00 they said we needed an appointment for imaging. We took that had difficulty breathing back home. Dr. Celio (not sure about spelling) said that the receptionist basically does her schedule for the day!!! That was so strange. Do they have to hire more veterinarians or manage the ones they have to provide good care for very sick pets? Or maybe they should put a disclosure on the homepage NOT SURE ... read more

Called 6 times on a Sunday morning to make sure this place was actually open. No answer. If it was local I would have just gone over, but since I live in Lawrence I wanted to make sure they hadn't changed their hours before I drove the half hour. Inexcusable, as is the fact the Lawrence has no emergency vets.

This review is going to be long. It took be a while to be able to write it because I didn’t want to relive the experience. But I hope this story and its honesty saves someone else’s animal. I rescued my dog, Riley, right after college. She was a senior girl. A mini schnauzer. She lived a great three years with me…she had lots of energy and loved to sleep and play and visit the dog park. In early March of 2020, she got sick for the first time in a year. I took her to the vet and her liver values were extremely high. This was... read more
