Blast from the Past – My son took me here last month on a visit. The food was good and plentiful, the price was right, and it was fun. Good place to people watch, too. I would reccommend it.
Grungy not Good – Since when did grungy mean good? Blue Plate falls into the category of "ooh, it's kitschy so it must be good". I'm not impressed by this restaurant. The pancakes tasted like they were out of a box, my server looked like someone from a Marilyn Manson concert, and we peeled ourselves off the vinyl chairs when we were done. Salt Lake's dearth of good restaurants has elevated this one to an unlikely position - it just isn't good and the service just isn't very good...sorry, folks.
BEST RESTAURANT EVER! – We just found this place last week and have already eaten there 8 times. They are fabulous and cheap! They have great fries, great burgers, but my favorite is thier eggs benedict! DELISH! The people are awesome, very friendly and you are there seated and have your meal within 10 minutes. It's great! WONDERFUL!!!
It's OK – This Diner is usually packed and loud. Service seems better when its crowded. Buffalo Burger was OK but the Country fried steak was great. Don't come here if yopu want a nice quiet diner.
Go retro and enjoy an omelette or burger at this art deco-style diner. – The Scene It's small, colorful and bright, with cheerful music on the jukebox and an Elvis portrait above the bar. It gets crowded on weekend mornings and during the dinner rush, so be prepared for a short wait. Disappointed – Word of mouth was good, so... 1st -lunch-crowded, service incredibly slow, food OK, nothing I would order again. 2nd-dinner with family-not crowded, service still incredbly slow, food cold, bland 3rd- breakfast-crowded, service slow, food-eggs how can you screw uo eggs? I may go back for breakfast, but never lunch or dinner
whats not to like – The place is fun. It won best breakfast because food is seriously amazing. Its way better than whats expected from a diner. The ladies working there are super nice. They seem to have the mix of everything, the older experienced servers mixed with young hip college students. The place is simple and unprotentious and once you try it, it definetly keeps calling you back. I recomend it to all my friends and coworkers.
Love this place – We love the Blue Plate Diner. It's one of the only places to find good Iron Port. The food's decent and above average for a cafe. They have a really good variety of choices that meets any craving.
Poor man's Ruth's Diner – In a word, this place is cool. The food is commendable, the value is nice and the atmosphere is fun. Sure the eggs are eggs--nothing too life altering or anything like that, but come on, it's a diner. But they are no different than the eggs served at Over the Counter, nor do they taste any less good at Blue plate. The service is fine--the young ladies are all very friendly and work hard for you. Overall it's a place as advertised: diner styled food. And when the mood calls for it, I like it.
