Stop the pasta please – Has all the right things about a near-century old red sauce Italian place, but some traditions should be axed. The red sauce is the basis on which this restaurant is built, and it's a fine "red gravy", rich with spice, pork and oil. The problem is the pasta, made on site. The spaghetti is more like spaetzle, a thick dumpling-like doughy extrusion that is stiff as a board and just awful. The lasagna is no better. Skip it, it's bad – We have lived in the area for over 20 years, but have never eaten at the legendary Blue Parrot. Not sure why not, but we just have not made it there. Some friends (former locals) from out of town, suggested the Blue Parrot. So we went with some anticipation. What a disappointment, perhaps the worst Italian dinner we have ever had. Great food for 100 years – My family has been going to the Blue Parrot for the last 50 or 60 years. This restaurant is the best. The sauce is wonderful. Anyone who has ever had homemade pasta and sauce will recognize the quality of Blue Parrot's food.
