Old Style Italian Food with Good Service – I finally visited with Blue Parrot with my husband after hearing about it for many years. His family has been dining there since he was a child. It was a wonderful meal with great service. We had the sausage sandwiches with onions and peppers. The sauce was great. I am surprised that there are any bad reviews at all. It is an authentic Italian resteraunt with a casual homey atmosphere. My husbands family is picky when it comes to Italian food and they love this place. It is old styl... read more
May have been good 50 years ago but is absolutely terrible now! – I read the reviews here before I went to the Blue Parrot and thought my family and I would be going to a great Italian restaurant for my birthday dinner. Some reviews made it sound like the Blue Parrot was full of great pasta and a touch of the past. Instead I had the worst food I have ever had and now I have a horrible birthday memory of dinner. I should have followed my instincts when we drove by the place and saw the decor was something similar to your 90 y... read more
It would be funny if they weren't actually serious. – Notice that all the "good" reviews are written by people who grew up with the place, or remember going there with their parents, and have all these happy little memories about it. This is NOT a restaurant that you just happen to find one night online, try it, love it, and keep coming back. If you're old enough to vote when you try this place for the first time, you won't be back. Having just moved here, my husband and I decided to try it one night. I ordered ravioli and m... read more
Love it. – I love this restaurant. Did this family previously own the Louisville restaurant Three Coins in the Fountain?
Least Healthful Menu I have seen since the 50'x – Heard about it for years. Tried it and found NOT ONE HEALTHY thing on the menu. When asked if they had minestrone, I was told "no and don't go for the soup, it is Campbell's" NO salad meals at dinner (Good Grief, even MacD's have those) My husband thought the spaghetti was too thickand the sauce was adequate.
Terrible food, not so great service – The Blue Parrot war the worst restaurant we visited in Louisville since we moved here a year ago. We were four people and everybody's food was terrible. The kids plainly refused to eat theirs - and we could not blame them. Our waiter was pretty incompetent and extraordinarily slow, although the restaurant was 9/10ths empty. We vowed to never go there again!
The best speghetti any where and the same consistent good food for 50 years – I can't believe these snobs that don?t like the place. My parents took me to the Blue Parrot 50 years ago and other than a few years while in the Navy, I have driven up to 50 miles each way, at least once a month since. (I missed a few other months because the original building burned down and had to be rebuilt.) It isn't fancy, just predictably good and it is consistently the same each visit. I always order the large spaghetti, knowing that I will... read more
Louisville's most enduring Italian restaurant keeps regulars coming with its homey atmosphere and house-made pasta. – In Short This cozy Main Street eatery was founded in 1919 by members of the Colacci family. Today the Colaccis still own and operate the restaurant using guarded family recipes. Even the décor speaks to the long-lasting nature of the restaurant, as the walls are covered with historical pictures. Families and local businesspeople return frequently for the old-school Italian cuisine, including breakfast dishes ... read more
Best place to get Italian food! – I can't believe what I am reading. I have been going to the Blue Parrot since I was a little girl. We'd go for all kinds of special occasions. It is a family owned business, not a franchise, so if you want all the fancy stuff go there, but if you want true blue, good Italian food then go to the Blue Parrot. Because that is what you're going to get. Those noodles are not from a box, their homemade, the sauce is not from a jar. Everytime we have gone there, and it has been many times, we have ... read more
