Even Native Cubans Approve – I took my roommate here over the summer and she was amazed at the quality of the food and its authentic execution. She couldn't believe how much the food was like the traditional Cuban fare that she thought only her grandmother could produce. I am from the MidWest and also greatly enjoyed the dining experience--there is something for everyone. The portions are generous and the price very reasonable. We made reservations on a Friday night, and while the place seemed to be busy, no one seemed to be... read more
Flavor for All – I was taken here on a first date and it was a great experience. It's a funky little restaurant without being trendy. The service was great and the food was excellent, and the variety of dishes makes it fun to experiment with new choices! I loved the generous portions and the beautiful presentation. I had the best Mahi Mahi ever here! You have to try this cool little restaurant! Hold on to your tastebuds and don't forget the margaritas!
Very nice – Great guacamole, nice salsa, wonderful Latin flavored chicken salad. I'd been meaning to check the Blue Corn Cafe out for some time. I'm glad I did; I just wish I'd done it sooner.
Great Experience – The cafe is not much in the way of adornments, but the experience is what counts. The food is a unique blend of Hispanic flavors with a twist. Let me point out, this is authentic, and not like the Torrero's style mexican/american food one is usually accustomed to eating. The service was great and more times than not, I was talking to one of the owners. I am definately a new repeat customer!
Funky, charming Latin flavor – Excellent Cuban dishes, combined with great location on 9th Street. Also, most authentic Sangria I've had since Mexico.
A reliable standby – Always good, huge portions, quality ingredients, local ownership, excellent specials. I recommend highly.
Ay, Caramba! – I had eaten at Blue Corn without being impressed when the restaurant first opened. This weekend, I decided to try it again, and, I have to say, the experience was terrible. The staff was efficient and friendly, but the food was overpriced and unenjoable. The spinach empanada lacked flavor; there was hardly any cheese, and the spinach tasted like it belonged in a school cafeteria. My partner had the ginger citrus chicken, which had as much zest as the pre-cooked frozen chicken you can buy in the store. The side... read more
amazing – I love this place! I've tried new dishes each time I've been here and am never disappointed. The atmosphere is light and fun and the food is tasty and filling. The prices may be more than your average mexican restaurant but you get a lot and the food quality is SO much better. I definitely recommend this place.
Average – Great Location but the food is average. Reasonably priced, but chips are not free and the salsa tastes like it comes from a jar.
