The "Rubber Neck" was a flop! – I have been a patron of Bliss 57 for quite some time and have always had a pleasurable experience. I normally go for the deep tissue massage with a focus on the shoulder and neck area. I decided to try Bliss 49 as it was on my way home from work. I noticed on the spa menu when booking the appointment that there was a new treatment called "the rubber neck". I have to say, this treatment is anything but. The massage is supposed to be 60 minutes. The first twenty minutes were spent applying a hot... read more
Blah to Bliss Spa on 49th and Lex. – Do not go here if you have any inkling of being any bit late to an appointment. I work in the city and my two friends were meeting me from Jersey. I called a half hour prior to our 5 pm appointments and let the receptionist know we would be a bit late, since my friends were stuck in traffic at the tunnel. She said no problem, as long as we were no later than 15 min late since it would spill into our appointments. This is understandable...but when we arrived and checked in at 5:15 pm, they... read more
more salesperson than spa experience – I went here for a wax and a bliss 75 massage. The wax was ok it wasnt the best. If you are looking for a nice place for a wax go to Completely Bare on 17th Street. That is a nice place with a nice staff. My friend told me that Bliss was good and didnt hurt but I felt pain and did not like it. The massage did not feel like 75 minutes. Maybe it is called 75 becaise i spend 15 mins in the waiting room. The waiting room was nice but I rather get my money worth. I dont care too much for crac... read more
Bad Brazilian – I am very disappointed in the Brazilian bikini wax, despite magazine recommendations. The technician was brusque and unfriendly, but more importantly, she did a bad job. Initially I noticed that she did not trim the shape with scissors or pluck stray hairs after the wax job. Now, as the hair is growing back in (much sooner than it did with my previous salon), a lot of it is ingrown, red and terrible looking. I don't know it it's the technician's fault or the type of wax she used, but I am definitely going bac... read more
i love bliss – ive tried their body butter lotion and i love it! i'm using their sunblock and i love it! i just got my first brazilian bikini was here and i loved it! i wont say it did not hurt but tht was a breeze! a few ouch here and there but its waay nothin like what you think! she made feel at ease and comfortable the entire time which was only 15mins! hehehehe the staff were very friendly and nice. definitely seeing her again in a few weeks and i do highly recommend to have your first time or not here...
BEST SPA EVER! – I am a frequent spa go-er, and often time freelance for global spa editorials. I went to try bliss out while on vacation visiting my mother. My mother, her 3 friends and I all went to Bliss49. Booking was a breeze, not to mention the amazing front desk staff that promptly greeted us and welcomed us to the spa. we were immediately attended to and brought to the clean, relaxing, spacious locker room and lounge. the lounge boosts amazing decor, brownies, and other goodies. everyone was picked up exactly on time... read more
All about selling – DONT GO HERE! Okay, so here's the deal. I've never heard of bliss until 2 weeks ago. I needed a new skin care line to try so when I heard they were having a special 20% one day at the spa 49 I went. Boy, did they have some good sales pitchers! I got so convinced I walked out buying TWO toners which do completely different things. Later I realized I should try one of the toner first to see how it works but when I tried to return the other one the NEXT day they say I can only get store credit! First, they n... read more
Do Not Get A Bikini Wax At Bliss! – Do not get a bikini wax at Bliss Spa! I?ve had two bad experiences with this chain. I'm sure you're wondering, "why did you go back a 2nd time, if you had a bad experience the 1st time?"...but I tried to give Bliss the benefit of the doubt. My first experience was at Bliss 57; my second experience was at Bliss 49. In both instances, I was up-sold while getting a Bikini Wax. Imagine it, you are on the table--completely naked--in a vulnerable position--and you are up-sold from a basic bikini... read more
Horrified They Get Away With This – I'm horrified that people keep paying to go to Bliss. My friends bought me a basic pedi for my birthday... which cost $55. Calling it basic, is being generous. I get a much better, more enjoyable pedicure for $23 at any of a number of neighborhood nail places. First of all, I was not even taken to the spa. I was sat in front of the front door, on a 19-degree evening. So every time the door opened I got a blast of frigid air. The chair I was put in was uncomfortable (no pedicure chairs... t... read more
