Dr. George Blackburn is a nice guy, but does not practice modern safety methods. He uses gloves to protect himself, not the patient. After touching my saliva he touched things all around the room, then touched inside my mouth again. This goes against the most basic of safety practices, spreads germs, and is unsanitary.
I have been going to the dentist most of my life and believe me when I say "I know the DIFFERENCE between the Good, the bad and the ugly" Dr. Blackburn is one of the good guys. I was very comfortable with the whole experience. The front desk was very friendly and the wait was very short. The dental assistance was very gentle and knew what she was doing. I recently became a patient of Dr. Blackburn's after being social friends with him and his wife for many years. I'm very glad I did. His initial oral exam was the most thorough I've ever had. He was gentle and explained every step of the exam, and showed me what he was doing and looking at. His staff was extremely pleasant and courteous. Have been using Dr. Blackburn for several years and I am very pleased with his work. His attitude is positive and the repairs he has done have lasted and been cost effective. His office is listed on the "Texas Dental Plan" insurance program and that provides a real savings. Office staff is efficient and pleasant. Going to the dentist has never been the highlight of my life but when I have to go I feel I am getting good work, good advice, and good service from Dr. Blackburn. Procedures I had done-crowns, fillings. Pain-They are not gentle, hygienist does most work & that always seems to be a bit more painful to me. Billing/insurance help/front desk-The people who did this were actually great! Chair-side manners-If you like to feel bad about your teeth this is the dentist for you, not only expensive but you get to pay for his contempt.
