Another gem in Denver – I have been a Denver diner for 25 years, and I have seen restaurants come and go. Some well thought out, and some, well lets just say were not very special. I also have many aquaintances throughout the dining scene, and have experienced the best of what Denver restaurants have to offer. Terrible!! – I am so disappointed with this restaurant. We were really excited to have a new place to eat in the neighborhood, and we will never go back. While the space and the wine list are delightful, the food is terrible. The menu is too creative, blending tastes that do not compliment each other. One of our entrees (the lamb) was far undercooked, and when we sent it back for a little more browning, it came out very overcooked. A Great Addition to South Pearl Street – We found this place while we were on the 45-minute waiting list for the Sushi Den. The Black Pearl's outdoor table with a bonfire in the center lured us in. It was a little loud, but still cozy. The waitress was excellent & the food was fantastic. I've recommended the place to friends & their experiences have been equally good.
A Place to Frequent – My husband and I met two friends here at their suggestion, and we were amazed at how great it was. It's small, so we had to wait a bit for a table, but there's a great bar with two ends jutting out forming conversational areas. We shared a crab cake appetizer, which was possibly the best crab cake I have ever had; and a plate of oysters, all of which were fresh and tasty. Great wine selections as well. Dinner was superb...we'll be back.....frequently.
Great new spot! – When we arrived at the Black Pearl, we were excited to try it because of a recent review in Food and Wine magazine. We weren't dissappointed! There was a bit of a wait (about 20 min) because we didn't have a reservation. We enjoyed a cocktail at the bar (fab cosmos) and were seated right away. This Place Rocks – It finally happened!!!! Denver has caught up with the rest of the countries top cities. The Black Pearl is by far the best restaurant in the city. The food is very creative, the bar scene is chic, the wine list is better than any I have seen, and the service was top notch. so sad – i was visiting in town with me sister, and went to black pearl. i was let down by their selections, and service. i will not miss going back. never again
what a dissapointment – i was very excited to try black pearl, but quickly i was let down. our server was unfriendly and somewhat pushy. when we complained that our table was not level, instead of moving us to a new location, ( we were the only table in the place), they instead asked us to help flip the table over so they could fix it! then our entrees came out wrong, i was served lamb and i had ordered the ribeye. my server never offered to fix the issue, even after i told him. after this he was very aloof until it was time... read more
Hot spot and great food... what a combo!! – Black Pearl was supposed to be a hip spot, but it was much more. The food was unique, creative and well-prepared - check out the tuscan ribeye and mac & cheese, for example. The wine list was affordable and eclectic and matched the style of food perfectly.
