Food was good but the server completely ruined the experience. I went here for the first time and Fox was horrible! Even her co-workers were aware of her attitude just because she wanted to go home. As a person who has served for several years, you do not disrespect your guest regardless of what mood you are in. If you value your restaurant, this is one of the last servers you should have working for you. I love Black Oak and I'm sure some of the staff know that as well, given I go about once a week. Just yesterday, I had my first bad experience and I was extremely dissatisfied. The food was great, as usual, but our service was far less than desirable. The server was very short with us. They wouldn't even let us finish ordering, or asking a questions without walking away. Food was overseasoned, breading separated completely from thw CFS, potatoes had what felt like whole cloves of garlic in them, and the veg, while alright, had a piece of broken porcelain from a plate or coffee cup in it. That was real fun to bite into. Unfortunately I had ordered through SkipTheDishes so there's not a whole lot I can do.
It must have been a very off day for them. The door was locked at the circle entrance I had to call for them to unlock. The coffee was cold and the food took a long time and it was not a complicated order. The servers were ok but took to long in between checkups and to take our payment. Usually much better Service. All in all a decent experience.
Mike i would like to apologize to You and the Black oak grill. My girlfriend brought to my attention it was Rojas restaurant where the service was HORRIBLE , as a matter of fact out of all the restaurants we ate at while we were in nebraska BLACK OAK GRILL WAS THE BEST. 5 STARS FROM THE SERVICE TO THE FOOD. I DELETED THAT POSTS. SORRY AND THANKS FOR RESPONDING EVEN AFTER I MADE A MISTAKE . 5 STARS
Food was great, excellent actually and we will go back, but the service needs to be tweaked as the wait staff could learn a few things still, at least the young person we had needs to. If you wait tables for a living it is polite to say, "I'll be right back with your change" allowing the person to say "keep the change" if they want to, it is NOT polite to ask "Do you want change"! And when you have people eating and visiting and you offer to clear the plates and people say yes, you should still leave the drink-ware!
Food was great with a great selection of beers. Very clean and comfortable place.
