Black forest usually only has about 5 of their own brews on tap but the quality far outweighs the quantity. I work up the road on 110 and going here for lunch and a glass of hefeweizen is a great break from the office or clients. The food menu is phenomenal and offers everything from the simple stuff offered at an applebees/ruby tuesdays/hoolihans type place alongside authentic german food
The menu is authentic German, right down to the spaetzle. Try the sausage plate. The outdoor patio area is great in the summer and fall.
The interior is roomy, with at least 30 tables. There is a nice four sided wooden bar and a lot of exposed brick. The brick fireplace and the copper vats all add to the warm atmosphere.
A really nicely done brewpub. I especially like that it is themed - meaning that it is German through and through.
Excellent brews I especially love the Amber, Scotch Ale, Pilsner, yeah...um it's pretty much all good.
Service was friendly and top notch. The woman tending bar was knowledgeable of the 4 beers on tap.
I have been here a few times. We even had our company christmas part one year. The food is excellent. They offer alot more than just German food. Their beer is also very good. I tried their bock and ended up getting a growler for the road.
All-in-all, a great slice of Deutschland on the Island. They also do Growlers to take home! I wish I lived closer! Zum Wohl!!
