I found Rick on Craig's List and boy, did I get lucky! I was looking for someone to "dog-proof" my deck and build a gate. This was going to be tricky because the top of the stairway where I wanted the gate was not "squared" properly so I could not just buy a gate over the internet. I find Rick to be very professional, reliable and knowledgeable in his craft. He performed work for our office and address all of our needs. He has moved from the area and it will be very difficult to replace him. Not was he everything you could hope for in a “handyman” but he is a warm, friendly and honest human being. I hesitate to rate Bitterman Carpentry/Handyman so highly as it will likely mean that Rick will become even more in demand and I could find it harder to schedule with him. I'll rise above my selfishness and report the truth. Rick is fantastic. He can handle every home project I've thrown his way (and my list was long and quite diverse), he appears to have the all the necessary tools and equipment, he consistently delivers quality results and HE SHOWS UP WHEN HE SAYS HE GOING TO BE THERE. Project & client expectation management could have been better. Schedule kept changing and getting pushed back. I painted the shelves though and we're happy with them. So end result was good despite some frustration during the project.

Rick of Bitterman Carpentry has done several projects for me. He built a wood platform in my garage for storage, installed screens on my patio doors, installed a motion detection light fixture on the side of my house, relocated a hanging kitchen ceiling light fixture, overseen the refinisheing of my front door, and fixed a drainage problem with my back deck He will soon be starting a job to install tile on my front porch and steps. So far we've had two encounters with Rick of Bitterman Carpentry, and they have both been extremely positive experiences. Both times he called the day of the appointments to confirm, and was extremely punctual about his arrival time. He did some repair woodwork for us, and did a great job. He kept his word about what he'd charge, the work was done precisely and quickly, and he cleaned up when he was finished. What a pleasure it was to have Rick remove one oven and install another. He showed up when he said he would, he was quiet and respectful, he did the work within the time he said he would and yes, he even cleaned up before he left! I could hardly have been more pleased with the experience. He has attention to detail yet doesn't waste time. Also, he is creative and clever when he encounters a problem. Truly, a jewel!
