About this business

This relaxed, cozy eatery is popular with local vintners and a great recommendation for excellent food. No wonder, as its owners are Giovanni and Donna Scala who also own Scala's Bistro in San Francisco. The wood and tile dining area, adorned with lots of fresh flowers and pottery, features a huge fireplace and glassed-in kitchen. Outside, a sprawling patio overlooks adjacent vineyards. The traditional Italian cuisine is impeccably prepared. Recommended dishes include the Trenne Pasta with Lamb, Artichokes, Olives, Roasted T... read more

Hard to find but amazingly crowded place – It might be hard to find on Highway 29, but apparently everyone else found their way there with no problem. We arrived well after 8pm and still had a 40-minute wait. If you don't mind crowding around it bar, it may eliminate some waiting time, which was what we did. The bartender was attentive enough to make sure we had our food and take care of everyone else's drink requests. From the look of the menu, the pizza selection didn't look impressive. But we later found out that you can ... read more

A Fun Time Out – Bistro DG's is not a haute food experience. It's menu is really a notch above what you might find at Olive Garden. But what they do they do well and it is always fun. Pizzas are wood fired and thin crusted. Pastas are made on premises daily and feature sauces made from Italian tomatoes. The roasted leg of lamb is superb and could stand up to anything found down the road in Yountville. The wine list is up to Napa standards and DG's also features many creative cocktails as well, a rarity in the valley.

Don G's? Oh please! – I'm so sick of everyone telling me this place has great food! Not once have I had good service or food. My list of grievances are as follows: 1. Rude Hostesses-- I called the restaurant in advance to ensure they were still open, when I got there with a party of 4, I was told they were closed. No accomodations were made, no suggestions given. 2. Asked: "Is that all you're gonna eat?" Need I say more. 3. Ordered a glass of Zinfandel, received Pinot Grigio the first time, then a rose the second. 4. Carpacc... read more

Rub-a-dub-dub thanks for the grub – Don G's is a great dining experience! The food is delish, service... excellent, ambience... coolio. A definite local favorite as well for this one-time regular visitor of Napa. It's been a while since I last went but about 4 years ago my dining group was graced with the presence of, at the time, the reigning Miss Puerto Rico celebrating her birthday there. If she was there then you know it is good!

My Favorite Restaurant – I LOVE Bistro Don Giovanni's. I didn't expect much after pulling off the freeway looking for a place to eat. We were pleasantly surprised. Service has been excellent each time I have dined here- attentive, but unobtrusive. Food is excellent. There is a tuna salad that was offered one summer I dined there that was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend sitting on the patio in the warmer months. It overlooks a small vineyard and the faint strains of music can be heard playing.

Great Night – great wine list - great food - well trained wait staff - the cars in the parking lot just added to the experience - it was obvious this was not a tourist place but a favorite of the locals but they treated my family like we were somebody

Very Disappointed! – Mediocre food, portions very small, prices too high for what you receive. Service unaccommodating. There are better restaurants in the area to spend your money at!

With its delightful outdoor patio and classic Italian fare, this Napa Valley restaurant is a locals' favorite. – The Scene Inside, the dining room has high ceilings, modern art and large picture windows. Outside, the patio is a festive affair surrounded by mountains, vineyards and herb and vegetable gardens. The Food While little on the Italian menu strays from the familiar, just about everything is excellently prepared. A grilled portabello mushroom is served over greens and drizzled with a balsamic-chicken stock reduction.... read more
