Had clam dinner and clams were real rubbery and gritty. Waitress asked how it was and we told her. She was no help. Guess maybe ole Billy is not in charge. Bad day? Who knows. Lesson learned.
Always very good food and ample serving sizes. The wait staff are very attentive and the restaurant is clean.
I've been going to Billy's for yrs.The best seafood chowder ever..Great menu,Drinks reasonable staff always fun to talk to and Chris Varano in the front of the house is always enjoyable to talk to as he greats you.. I find Billy's better than the Maine dinner for lunch...Hands down!!...keep the good work up Guys..

My family and I have been going to Billy's Chowder House for at least the last 10 years when we travel to Southern Maine. This past weekend was not a good experience sadly...the waitress was awful (and I still gave her an 18% gratuity tip) and the portions were lacking when compared to the price tag. Was our first time there and we were not impressed at all way over priced for the amount of food they serve you and the quality of the food was bad worse fried clams ever

Best steamers I've ever had. ZERO sand. GREAT LOBSTER.
