We took Chicago friends on Saturday night during Hot Chicken Week and something must have happened to their recipe, because the chicken was not even spicy, let alone hot. They were out of tenders, so menu options were limited. We ordered three fish/chicken combos (two mild, one medium) and two shrimp burgers. Fish was good, chicken was good but NOT spicy or hot, and we did like the shrimp burgers. The point was to feed them HOT CHICKEN, and that was a major failure. What it lacks in atmosphere is made up by some of the best hot chicken and catfish around. Everything is cooked to order so, it's not fast, but well worth a short wait!
If you like Nashville Hot Chicken, but aren't in Nashville, then Big Shakes is definitely a great restaurant! If you don't like your chicken too hot, try the "cry baby" with just a little heat.
