About this business

This is home-style Southern cooking in its purest form. Some breakfast items include the thickest biscuits coupled with the finest sausage gravy and plate-sized pancakes, while some others like the Fried Cajun Chicken Breast and Fried Egg Burgers are a big hit with locals. If you come in for lunch and find barbecued chicken on the menu, you are in luck. Also,an added bonus is that this cozy eatery looks like the inside of a Southern kitchen, with pots, pans and other odd paraphernalia scattered for effect. Big Ed's only acce... read more

My fraternity brothers and I were in town for our 86th Regional Convention. We decided to walk the exciting streets of Raleigh. Upon walking we discovered Big Ed's city market and decided to give it a try. What a pleasant "southern" surprise! We are all southern gentlemen who enjoys all types of southern cuisines. From the fried catfish to the banana pudding, everything was delicious! Our waitress Heather was awesome too! Thanks Big Ed from the GA Alphas!

Service was fine..It was okay , nothing special..I don't understand why it's award winning.. Overpriced, I payed $ 3 for a side of sausage gravy and 1.30 for a piece of cheese on my grits..Kinda nuts..I wouldn't eat there again..

All the staff who come around ask "are you going to eat all of that?" I say yes. I love how everybody takes care of you and there aren't too many new faces, and I like that. It gives it a homey feel when the staff remembers you, and have a conversation with you. I love this place it gets no better for c... read more
