Very long wait time. Also couldn't even get through my entire sheet I made for previous/current symtoms/quality of life, etc. without being cut off. I spent hours on that sheet and prepping for this appointment. Was also told that disc bulges do not increase in size when the spine is under load which is a straight up lie. There is proven clinical evidence that disc bulges do in fact increase in size when a load is placed on the spine. Go look up the research that supports these claims. From my 1st consultation to my 6 week follow-up Dr. Bjerke has made me feel safe and confident in him and his surgical abilities. He set my mind at ease about my surgical procedure and checked on me before and after my surgery. (I have never had a physician do that). I highly recommend Dr. Bjerke. If I need any type of spinal procedure again his office will be my first call.
I had an unplanned microdiscectomy for L5-S1 on 7/9/26. Dr. Bjerke was attentive and reassuring on surgery day and every day after. I felt immediate relief waking up from surgery. The first two weeks were slow, but progress came quick. Stay mobile, hydrate, rest, repeat. I walked a 5k just after 5 weeks post op!
