About this business

Popular with all types of patrons, Benjamin's is another notch on New York's steakhouse bedpost. The steak is USDA approved and you can enjoy your ethically sourced beef in muted, Gothic style surroundings, the ceiling soaring high above you. The steaks are all dry-aged and carefully selected by the chef - for non-steak lovers, there is a reasonable selection of salads and seafood to choose from. The sides are good and there is a selection of desserts. Be sure to make reservations.

Not up to par.. – I have eaten at many of the steakhouses across the city and decided to try Benjamin's. At first glance of the menu, it looked extremely familiar, perhaps similar to another steakhouse I have been to. We were a group of four and ordered porterhouse and filet mignon. They were just average and not well cooked. The service was below average and overall the entire night was just not up to par with other steakhouses. I most likley will not be returning back here for the prices we paid.

Great People – Enjoy the fact that there aren't attitudes thrown at you by the waiters or any others at Benjamin's. But rather very well trained waiters with much respect and no arrogance & stockiness- Even Benjamin himself, who came over to make sure everything was good - is a very friendly guy.

Great Food – The steak at Benjamin's is great-after all the man himself -ARturo -Peter Luger's former chef prepares it. After dinner I wanted to compliment the chef on his excellences and delicious dishes - i was surprised to find how down to earth the guy. He really is nice and down to earth -that caught me off guard- not sure people in his position would be so humbling -they tend to be more arrogant and full of themselves.

Excellent Decor – Looking at Benjamin Steakhouse from the outside, the restaurant looks very plain and small but once you walk in, the place seems absolutely unbelievable. The actual size of the restaurant is huge and the decor is phenomenal. I love the lighting. I asked if I could check out the mezzaine for a party I'm planning-the view from it is incredible -you are looking down at a place with two beautiful reflective mirrors and a fireplace that adds such warmth to the place. Along with the place -the food was unexpectan... read more

So far THE best steakhouse – I've dined at many restaurants -(steakhouses to be specific) and I have found Benjamin Steakhouse to be above them all. Take into acount the TOP STEAKHOUSES (and we all know to which I am refering to) and by far Benjamin knocks them all out. I am a man that loves any good food-so give me anything delicious and I'm up for it, and it seems I can never get enough of the food at Benjamin's. I've tried about 3/4 of the dinner menu and I enjoyed absolutely everything. And what I think is absolutely gre... read more

Best Porterhouse in NYC! – Heard there was a new steak house in midtown boasting the former chef of Peter Lugers. I heard there have been many defectors of the old institution. But what i learned is that they were waiters, butchers and bartenders (at Ben & Jacks, Wolfgangs and Mark Josephs) but Benjamins got the real mccoy - the chef from Lugers who was there 20 years) He obviously knows his cuts in meat! So, I liked the room when I arrived very big with a mezzanine and large fireplace located at the Dylan Hotel. Wait staff ... read more

Warm and Cozy – The decor and ambience of this place is warm and cozy lending to an overall nice dining experience. The beautifully decorated dining room is quite relaxing with its comfy leather chairs and fireplace. The food, the steak in particular, was nothing to write home about unfortunately. It wasn't that it was bad, it was good, but not great. The mushrooms were over onioned, you couldnt taste the mushrooms themselves. The seafood appetizer was fresh and tasty as was the lobster bisque soup - delish! As for the servi... read more

Perfect- The Best Porterhouse in the City – Recently I attended a private party at Benjamin with my colleagues. We decided to give the new Steakhouse a try, and we find ourselves in great service. The service was great- the waiters were very respectful, the place was absolutely amazing, with ceilings so high and a fireplace that is absolutely beautiful. But above all was the food. We decided on ordering the Porterhouse with sides of creamed spinach, and German potato and find ourselves in absolute amazement. Everything was a... read more

It was quite homey on thanksgiving – We broke with tradition and went out for Thanksgiving. We went to this charming little place with a big fireplace (that's filled with candles, hmm) and it was quiet and the staff were very nice and accomodating. Corn bread pudding was a little dry but the huge plate of turkey was very good. Sweet potato, mashed potato, brussels sprouts, white meat, dark, meat, stuffing, and a thin dark gravy. It was a mountain of food. The pecan pie was great. I was very comfortable. I had a bit of a prob... read more
