Giving Luger the run for the money – I love steak. I've been to Peter Luger's in Great Neck and I will say that I enjoyed my dining experience more at Ben & Jacks. There were six of us dining here for a friends birthday. We made reservations and were seated immediately. Our server was very attentative and service was quick. Good Steak – Although New York has a lot of steakhouses, this one churns up some good competition. It has that old city steakhouse appeal with good food and great wine list. Keep it up!
NYC's Best Steak!!! – I have been to them all, when its all about the food and not the environment, Ben & Jack's is consistently outstanding. Excellent Steak of course, as well as fresh seafood. Its Wolfgang's without the hassle, or the attitude.....My favorite destination when its all about the food!! And of course, the BACON is a must try!!
Excellent Steak House ... – Excellent steak! Last night was my fist time to go to Ben and Jack?s and I loved it. It was ten of us and the manager gave us a round table. The food was amazing. The waiter suggested the ?seafood platter? for appetizer and he was 100% right. There was more than enough food on that plate: lobster, shrimp, crab meat, oysters? Worst steakhouse I've been to in NYC... – I frequently visit Smith and Wollensky's and The Palm, as well as the Capital Grille on occasion. Thought I would try Ben and Jack's tonight, because of its Peter Luger pedigree. What a mistake. Four of us ordered the filet mignon, and they were gristled, fatty pieces, one of which the cook absolutely butchered. Our waiter was awful -- extremely unhelpful, with an attitude. Great Steak & Service! – Steak and service on par with (or perhaps a bit above) Wolfgangs, Blair Perrone, and other Peter Luger spin-offs. Dining room is a bit old/stuffy and nicer decor can be found at some other steakhouses - but the steak for two is always excellent! Cremed spinach and lionized potatos are excellent compliments to a quality meal!
Great place, service...recommended – Everything was great....service was friendly and attentive. Food was great, as it should be so no surprises here. If you like fresh mozzarella then definitly order the mozz and tomato appetizer. Would definitely go back! One thing to know is that it's an older crowd but there were definitely some cougars on the prowl.
even better than peter luger – This restaurant was opened by former Peter Luger staff... and they managed to exceed high expectations. For the same amount of money, you get 1) Far better service - no attitude, no arrogance, no wait 2) More comfortable seating - much roomier space, plush seats instead of hard wooden chairs, paintings and statues instead of dusty windows and most importantly, 3) BETTER STEAK - same Porterhouse, but much crispier on the outside, juicy and tender inside. Great food and service – The food was absolutely fabulous from the seafood appitizer to the apple struddel dessert. We ordered the steak for three which was cooked exactly how we ordered it and it was extremely tender. The one nice aspect of the resturant is when they served the steak, it was already cut and arrange around the bone. This made it much easier to serve with no mess.
