I highly recommend Dr Bastawrous to anyone in need of colon and rectal care. I can’t thank him enough for his amazing care during my colon cancer office consults and surgery. Dr. Bastawrous is one of the kindest physicians I’ve ever met. I’ve been under his care for years and he’s made my visits less stressful and as comfortable as possible. He shows warmth and compassion as well as extensive expertise that make him a wonderful addition to the Swedish hospital. I’m so grateful to be his patient and take comfort in knowing that when I need him, he will make me feel better.
I have been seeing Dr Bastawrous for about 7 years for follow up screenings after a surgery. He is always kind, considerate and able!
I spent 4.5 years battling fistulas resulting from a colorectal abscess. The first three highly-regarded surgeons and eight procedures had zero effect. Then I was referred to Amir—a kind and caring expert in his field. He knew immediately what was wrong. A conservative approach and a need for a temporary stoma accounted for the final six surgeries, the last of which (take down of the stoma) I am currently successfully recovering from. Amir changed my life. He is the best!
Dr. Bastawrous is wonderful. Highly skilled surgeon and a good listener. I could not imagine a better experience. If you need the help of a colorectal surgeon, he is the best.

Dr. B saved my life. I feel like he probably hears that a lot, but if he doesn’t, he SHOULD. After two years of dealing with diverticulitis that was the most painful and awful thing I have ever been though in my life, I finally was able to have surgery. A month later, I feel like I have my life back. Amazing results because he’s a phenomenal surgeon. I am and will always be so grateful.
Dr. Bastawrous is a very capable and skilled surgeon. He seemed to truly care about minimizing scars and fast tracking healing, so I could get discharged from the hospital as quickly as possible. I greatly appreciated that. He was kind, which I also appreciate, as this process leaves you awfully vulnerable at times. Also, shoutout to his nurses. I had absolutely fantastic experiences with all of nurses, both in pre-op and in the hospital.
