AWESOME VEGAN! The best faux chicken salad in the world. It would be 5 stars if it wasn't for the clueless staff who take 30 minutes per customer.
This restaurant is AWESOME!!! Everytime Icome home, I try to convince Mrs. Austin to open up a small store in Dallas. That is the main thing I miss about Philly... I wish they could freeze dry those sanwiches to send to me here in TX!!! This is the BEST place to eat in Th reading terminal and Philadelphia!!!
Basic Four Vegetarian Snack is excellent I usually do not review "minimal hole in the wall" type restaurants however this is worthy of exception. We tried everything on BASICs menu and without exception we were delighted. This place is special and committed to quality food. 5 star.
Change you meat eating ways! Small little place but big on tasty healthy food a lot of Organic stuff which I plan to eat more of in 2009. The Carrot Tuna (Raw carrots with the texture and flavor of tuna) is something to remark on.
best veggie burger in Philly! This place has the best veggie burgers in philly! They are fresh and on a great roll. The only downside is that they can be extremely slow and I've had them screw up my order in the past due to language barriers. But the food is fabulous and conveniently located to the convention center in reading terminal market.
Nobody's better! This is by far the best vegetarian sandwich shop that exists. We can not go to Philly without getting to the Reading Terminal for lunch from the Basic 4. We also buy extra to take home for dinner or for the next day. We also order the special vegetarian turkey for the holidays as well. If you are a vegetarian and haven't tried their veggie chicken salad on a pita you haven't lived!
A vegetarian oasis amid display cases of meat. – In Short Because of its location (since 1981) in the center of the always-bustling Reading Terminal Market, everything at Basic Four is wrapped tightly for diners to eat at nearby tables, or for takeout to offices or home. Everything is made in-house, with th exception of the vegetarian corned-beef and bologna. Tuna (made out of carrots), top-shelf veggie burgers (with soy mayo on Lancaster County wheat rolls) and faux-meat hoagies are treats for veggies and non-veggies alike.
Amazing!!! – Great meat reproductions. The chicken salad is awesome. The whole wheat rolls are a big tasteless, but everything else is magnificient. Try the iced tea with honey sweetner. Unlike a lot of vegetarian food places, this place makes an artform out of its sandwiches. So tasty.
