My daughter was admitted to Northside Hospital with shunt complication. She was born with hydrocephalus and is 22 years old with a history of shunt revisions. At that time she had a VPL shunt and Dr. MacDonald and his team said they had never seen one like that. I asked for a second opinion, my daughter is an adult and I live in another state, but I was very concerned with the level of experience that Dr. MacDonald had with her specific issue. The doctor did call me on the phone and explained that they had no choice but to p... read more
Had two surgeries with Dr. MacDonald. A cervical fusion and a laminectomy. Both were good surgeries but I continued to have pain in lower back/buttocks area. Overheard him telling someone in hall that he would never operate on me again. Then walked into office and told me it was stress. Five years later and I had my SI joint fused which eliminated 85% of my pain. Although it's not neurology as such, it can be a MAJOR problem in back and should always be considered.Needs to better understand that MOST PEOPLE don't lie about t... read more
My father had surgery in June. Refused to give him a prophylactic antibiotic, an elderly patient with a long medical history. Wound blew open from the inside, so they sewed him up IN THE ER! I begged for imaging; they refused. A week and a half later, they had to go back in because of an infection and blood pooled in the incision site - JUST LIKE I SAID THERE WAS. The PAs are rude and dismissive. My father is in infinitely worse shape than before the initial surgery - the surgery he was told would fix him. But, of course, it... read more
Dr MacDonald did spinal fusion surgery on me. Complete fail. Worse now than before surgery. AND he tried to cover it up - lost my records even after I told him I would need them for VA benefits. He put me in a rehab facility for a month - never called or visited. Very unhappy with his lack of professional behavior. Records never did show up.
I met with Dr. MacDonald today for ongoing lower back pain and Sciatica. The staff was friendly and attentive upon my arrival. My wait time was short. Before I could complete the "New Patient" Documents, I was called back to exam room. Dr. MacDonald took the time to speak with me, allowed me to speak without interrupting me, addressed my questions and took the time to review the MRI on the screen with me. I have been to 3 different doctors recently to address my issues. I was not satisfied with my treatment nor the condescen... read more
Absolutely the best! I had a great experience with Dr. MacDonald for my spinal fusion at Northside Cherokee Hospital. I was very well informed and educated on the procedure, and his office staff was efficient and available as needed. My care was excellent, healing smooth and as expected. I couldn’t be happier with the care I received. I highly recommend Dr. MacDonald!
Dr. MacDonald is an excellent physician. I had lost all hope of find a surgical resolution and he gave that back to me. He actually listens to his patients and very thorough. Great personality. Highly recommend if you are in need of a neurosurgeon.
Had cervical and lumbar surgeries in 2018.
Failed back surgery May 29 2015 left me deformed and disabled. Now he’s a brain trauma spec- guess many of them can’t complain. I went from spinal fusion straight to a rehab center. No follow up. I’m still broken.
