About this business

Barrio, a restaurant with a popular Happy Hour located in the center of Seattle’s Pike/Pine Corridor, serves Modern Mexican cuisine in an open dining room that is highlighted by a floor-to-ceiling open divider filled with hundreds of votive candles. From the Heavy Restaurant Group, which is also responsible for the popular Seattle-area restaurants Purple and Lot No.3, Barrio offers indoor and outdoor seating; it’s particularly fun to sit at the kitchen bar and watch the Mexican woman making fresh tortillas by han... read more

"Nuevo Latino" Barrio is what I would call "nuevo Latino" -- a twist on Mexican. The food here is solid and it's a hip atmosphere. The wall of candles is kind of enchanting at night. They do new-fangled things like pumpkin hummous and wild salmon ceviche but also Mexican stand-bys like tacos al pastor and pozole. Tacos are great, try the egg and chorizo ones. Cocktails are top notch -- and they even have micheladas (beer bloody marys). Service is great - one time, my server even pulled a splinter out of my friend's hand!

Great Food-Awesome Atmosphere – Went here for my birthday after doing a ton of research and was amazed. Guac is very tasty, my group got a variety of tequila and was very impressed with the setup and flavors. Have been back for their happy hour. Pork sliders are super yummy. Went there during the summer so they have this retractible wall, very chic because you're inside but feel like you're outside. Have heard rave reviews about their brunch and will definately try again. It can be a bit loud on a weekend is the only con I c... read more

Darn great beans! – Decided to check this place out on a Friday around 6PM. It was a nice day, so many folks were in the front patio area and at the tables next to the windows. We made do with a table closer to the kitchen. First up, the guacamole. Wonderful flavor, nice little bits of chunk in there, yet creamy. However, with three of us we needed two orders of guac and at $8 a pop that's not cheap. Next, we tried the Ahi Tuna Crudo (avocado, orange, tamarind and sesame seeds with plantain chips). Good, but nothing about th... read more

Great happy hour, ambiance, specialty cocktails – From the owners of Purple Cafe & Wine Bar comes a mexican influenced restaurant on Capitol hill. Lit with candles, the wood design of this restaurant creates a feeling of cozy dining and city modern elegance. I personally love their rounded booths that make you feel like you've found a special pocket of the world that is all your own. At least for an hour! We love the tacos here - featured on their happy hour menu as well as their guacamole dip. The cocktails are mexican infl... read more

Go Hungry, Go Broke – When I say expensive, I mean over priced. I ordered 3 tacos thinking 3 tacos for 12 bucks... that should fill me up. These little ass tacos were a lot smaller than what one would expect for the price. Sure.. I know tacos off the truck, or any other authentic Mexi restaurant are the same size, but they are a buck. I had to buy an other order and I still left a tiny bit hungry. i also ate some crappy chip things and had some weak drinks. I went to Dicks an hour later :) ...No I'm not fat.

2nd Favorite Restaurant – Everyone has there opinion about restaurants. I had no idea this was a mexican restaurant. It was delicious, hip, very cool decor. Being a little dark in the restaurant and being lit by candles make it unusual and memorable. I recommend to everyone!

Needs Improvement – We ate at Barrio last night and had exceptional service. However, the ambiance and lighting were totally off. When we got there the hostess tried to seat us in a booth that was so dark we would have never been able to see our food. Throughout the evening the lighting was so poor that we still couldn't see our food or the our guests at the table. The food was ok. All the tacos our table ordered were dry and lacked sauces. The cocktails were alright. The pours were healthy and the flavors were interesting. ... read more
