Going downhill fast. AVOID. I've been a customer since 2006 but no longer. In the last year, starting in 2010 they have gone downhill. Pretty much what others are saying. Apathetic, rude, incompetent, pushy, and messy. I don't feel like I am talking to knowledgable professionals, I feel like I'm on the wrong side of the tracks in a rough part of town and my last three services required me to take my system back because it wasn't fixed right the first time. good selection and good work they have a nice selection of parts at a reasonable price and do good repair work. sometimes though i still prefer going to a major store so that i can get the extra warranties that arent offered here
Do not waste time or money here. Rude, unprofessional and incompetent. Even the store was dirty. After 15 minutes of them trying to sell me a new computer saying my hard drive was bad (at the counter without them even checking it) and that at 2 years old it wasn't worth fixing. They were very condescending. I took it to another shop and found out it was just a $2.00 SATA cable. Saved myself over $600.00
Helpful and reasonable too I have purchased several items from Barb's Computer Service after checking prices and product knowledge of their employees. Most people automatically go to one of the bigger stores for computer accessories but it would be a huge savings for you to check out Barb's . Not just a little savings either!
over priced i have seen what barb has to offer. it is over priced and she give wrong info for computer parts. I do see spending $250 for 1 gig of ram when i can go to best buy and buy it for $150. And if you think I am wrong im a computer networker for rockwell.
AVOID THIS COMPUTER HELL HOLE In March I took into Barb's Computer Service to get new RAM and a larger Hard Drive since i got Final Cut Pro and Adobe CS5. They installed it but on the Sunday while working on a project for school Illustrator... kept crashing as did Firefox. Also my touch pad quit working. So I took it back to them on Monday and they stated that my Logic Board was done and I needed a new computer so after shopping around for a new one I found a 2008 model reasonably priced and decided to buy it. Cheap, knowledgeable... Ok, I must admit, I'm used to places like Best buy...I've learned the hard way that this is the only place I will trust. I called and spoke with barb last year, Had a question about some ram,,,I wanted to upgrade, she told me something that would have saved me a lot of money...but I wasn't a believer. I bought some ram that was about twice as expensive from Best buy....needless to say I returned that after realizing Barb knew what she was talking about...I know go through for all my computer upgrades.... read more
TRUST 8/27/10 Sad to say computers die, hard drives fail and data is sometimes lost. Barb and her entire crew are straight shooters. Great info, true to form, that allows for the customer (me) to move on past the loss of a trusted friend and the introduction to a new and better one. She has the nack to understand your problem and pulling no punches tells you where to find the light at the end of the tunnel. You HAVE to trust your doctor, your mechanic, sometimes your lawyer.
