Jacques Pepin says in his book that the best test for a chef is roast chicken...simple, one knows what it should taste like, and should remind one of home. Roast chicken that bleeds when cut would not pass his test, and didn’t pass mine either.
Best bartender ! Delicious food. Friendly. Sometimes gets overlooked bcuz outside is low-key. Love chatting w/ other folks @ smallish, fun bar. Menu expensive for me, but maybe ok for others. Can just get an appetizer... everything tastes great. I like supporting local places ! And, I feel very comfortable going there as an older, single woman ! Lol.

From wine, to appetizers to the best dinners I've had in Rochester, Avvino has the service and intimate atmosphere to match. Janine and Tim are one of the best teams in the biz. Highly recommended, especially for the adventurous eater and wine connoisseur! 5 stars all the way!
Can’t say enough wonderful things about this restaurant. Our waiter, Steven, is a sommelier and recommended an excellent Spanish riojas. I ordered the roasted bone marrow and my friend had the roasted loaded beet for appetizers. Awesome! I ordered the branzani and my friend ordered the curry tofu for our main courses. Perfect meal. We both loved the atmosphere, the service and the food. I’ll definitely be back.
Truly exceptional. Fabulous food. Extremely professional and capable staff with zero pretension. We will be back. Oh yes, we will. We had bone marrow and roasted beet as appetizers. Surprising and delightful pairing of greens in both cases. Delicious. Nine Gem Korma and Pastrami Pho entrees were wow worthy and we ate everything. Server Ian was exceptional. Thank you for a memorable night.
The service and food was outstanding. The charred octopus was the best I ever had. Our entrees were spot and and the lemon lavender cake was delicious. We will be back for sure.
