Great Haircut great people! – It was the first time back in years. I wonder why I every left??? He knew exactly what to do to my over-razored thined out hair. He got it back on track and healthy again. super nice and friendly, would recommend it to anyone. Love the cut. Super cute.
I wish they ran on time – Like so many reveiwers here, I like the people at Avalon and have been going there since I moved downtown two years ago. The people are friendly and good at what they do. However, no matter what I go for, they are always running late, especially the waxing and manicure staff. Their prices went up substantially recently, and it is no longer the justifiable value of time for cost. The wait has been anywhere from 10 minutes to 30-35 until I was taken for my appointment. In a perfect New York, every neighborhood would have a place like this. – The Scene Welcoming, low-key, attitude-free--Avalon is the Cheers of day spas, a place where locals hang out and chat, little dogs bounce around and, after a couple of visits, everyone probably does know your name. Down to earth, great deal – Living in the West Village it seems that many salons are pretty in love with themselves, with nothing to back up their arrogance. This is why Avalon is so refreshing - they are warm and welcoming and the prices are fabulous. No wonder why their following is so loyal. They can always fit you in at the last minute and never fail to be speedy and friendly. And Lena gives a smooth, quick bikini wax. Great neighborhood place.
FACIALS ARE GREAT!!! – I had my Day at Avalon today-10/9/04. I must say the enviroment was different. The Staff was friendly and the Spa was okay. My pedicure and manicure could have been better. The stations were very small. However I must say the Facial was WONDERFUL. Irina is the BEST! I also had the reflexology which was good with Val. As for my haircut, this is another story. I was not a happy camper! So I would highly recommend facials with IRINA.
a very average spa... – after reading the great reviews here, i decided to try out this spa. after a few different treatments, i just couldn't bring myself the like this place. the hair cut and color was mediocre. the updo i got here was so bad i can honestly say i could do a much better job myself. if you like pain, you will definitely like the bikini wax by svytlana. i don't know what the other readers got, but i don't think it's worth it even at the low price.
First time's a charm – I went to Avalon today for the first time. I was so pleased and will definitely be going back. I had my color done with Phillipe and he was fun and very helpful. I got an appointment the next day (exactly when I wanted) it and everyone there was so nice. It was the first salon I've been to without an attitude problem. The cost was very reasonable and well worth it. No pushy sales people and the all staff was very helpful. Can't say enough nice things.
zak! zak! zak! – i love zak. he's been my hairstylist for 4 years now. i am VERY picky when it comes to finding stylists--as 99% of them don't understand asian hair. but zak does. he has a mod mentality. he is friendly. never have i said to someone "do whatever you think would look good"--until i met zak. he is really, really good with coloring too. irina is my all-time fave for brazilians. she is gentle but thorough. she honestly makes me feel like she is working on a masterpiece everytime she waxes me. for her, it's an art... read more
