Opened in 1998, the Avalon mirrors the quietude of its Murray Hill neighborhood, and there is even afternoon tea served in the library. The rooms are tastefully decorated with stylish furniture and offer tremendous comfort. It is also close enough to Midtown for a quick taxi ride to take you to almost any fine restaurant, shop, museum or corporate headquarters in a matter of minutes.

Charming but... – Really liked the rooms, but the staff is not guest- friendly. In fact, they could be downright unpleasant, from the desk clerks to the restaurant staff. Others we met in the elevator said the same thing. They should really get their act together, so that the charm of the staff matches that of the rooms.
THE BEST DEAL IN NYC – I travel to NYC at least once a month. It's one of my many homes away from home. I've had the pleasure (or displeasure) of staying in 50+ hotels in NYC. The Avalon is my favorite "budget" hotel. Rooms are well-sized. (Even the smallest "junior suites" are large for NYC standards.) Doorways are set back, so you don't hear noise from the hallway. Suite layout makes it easy to bring in last-minute guests. Plus, it's on the edge of Koreatown, where you can eat great food until 4am.
Whadda Place! – Having stayed at the Avalon a number of times now, hosting family or friends in from out of town, I can highly recommend this excellent hotel. As the other reviewers have said, the huge marble bathrooms are the best, the beds are comfy and the staff is very attentive. Best deal – The Avalon is a really great hotel .I have stayed in many places in N.Y and the Avalon is a great deal.The rooms are big and love the marble bathrooms .The staff is very helpful feels very much like home away from home when I;m there.
