Best rate and great service – I have known Austin First Mortgage for many years. I had just done refinancing on my current house (the original loan was also through Austin First Mortgage). For me, it was automatic. I did not even need to shop around, since I know Austin First Mortgage has the best rate from the past dealing and word of mouth. AFM has been my mortgage broker 3 times in a row – I used AFM as my mortgage broker when I bough my house and them I refinanced the same house twice in a row. Thanks to James Wu and his assistants, everything was done professionally and virtually transparent. To process the mortgage, I provided all the information he wanted up front and simply waited for 3 to 4 weeks for the loan approval and a phone call from title company to sign on the dotted lines. Wonderful! – I cannot understand these complaints, they did a great job for me, I got a great rate, excellent service, and I am very happy with my loan process. Christina was my processor, she was great, always on top of things. If I ever need another mortgage, I will use Austin First Mortgage, I also referred a friend to them recently, he too was very satisifed too, and then he referred anotehr, so believe me, it is all good! Great rate, great service, very friendly.
Re: the bad mortgage broker – I am surprised that Austin First Mortgage would charge you additional $500 beyond GFE you guys agreed upon. I purchased my house last year financing through Austin First Mortgage; and I just refinanced with them again for a lower interest rate. the bad mortgage broker – Austin First Mortgage does not keep the promise of Good Faith Estimate. They charged me more closing cost (more than $500.00) than Good Faith Estimate when we close the loan. Please walk away from Austin First Mortgage.

Austin First Mortgage is a discount broker closed/funded more than 800 loans in year 2008. We do not have any law suite and pending investigation by any regulation agency at this time. Buyer Beware! – This is a first class sham shop. Processors new nothing of their business, lots of back door charges, and marketed products they couldn't support. Ended up costing me hundreds more than necessary. To top it all off, my address info made it onto marketing list faster than they could say gotcha!
