I traveled for seven years working in shipyards all over the states and this is the cleanest, safest shipyard I've ever seen. I've been with the company for a year now and have experienced good management, advancement opportunities and a good healthy working environment.
I feel like they try to make them selves look all good and stuff but when your there after a couple months their true colors come out. Their always hiring because their always firing for petty stuff. Definitely don't judge a book by it's cover. And don't get insurance through them either. Because if you do and you decide after awhile you want to change or something, you don't get all the stuff once got when you started. Sorry but this is not a place to work that's for sure.
The health benefit fair is basically only for night shift and office people cause it scheduled when we have to work and we are told we can’t go . Basically it’s a good 2 hour we as day shift employees may get 45 minutes if lucky
Poor management. Upper management not standing up and taken ownership for their part, letting their supervisors take the blame for something they told them to do. But when it all hits the fan, firing them to save there own bottoms, and when u ask THE HR DEPARTMENT to speak to someone higher up the food chain they refuse. Even after sending countless emails regarding the situation to HR. If they can use you to take the heat off of them for their mistake..they will!! And won’t think twice about it!!
There are things that could be better as in any industry but I am truly blessed to have the job I have. The boot distribution was a disaster after standing in line for the better part of two hours I finally got fitted a month later I finally got my boots the next day I decided to wear my new boots opened up the box to put them on and low and behold I had a size twelve for my left foot and a size nine for my right foot.
