During 1929, when the entire city of Manchester was reeling under the effects of the Great Depression, Dora Mae realized the need for a pub. Everyone around needed a drink to relax and wane away all the worries. Soon word passed and locals started heading here for a pint or two. During the Prohibition era, she operated the pub from the basement of a building. Wow! Just wow! That bartender that wears different colored polos is always a treat! And the tall ones that always forget they're tall and hit their heads on the ceiling lol!
Well been a decade since I was there. But Mae's was the last place in Manhattan that many (all)my friends could be found . and where my farewell bash was held. Great local music. And like no other place I've seen since. Sure that hasn't changed. If so there is little hope for humanity.
Best bar in aggieville. Great service, perfect dive bar atmosphere, and competent employees.
