My mother and I recently had brunch at Atwood's and the customer service was poor. Another group was rendered services prior to us even arriving. The other group was waited on and given menus, after we were sitting there for 25 to 30 minutes.
On Saturday we purchased a dozen inedible lemon squares. The lemon bars tasted like they were weeks old as well as nothing like lemon. We could over look the lack of taste if this was the first time, but it wasn't. We've had several bad experiences with doberge cakes. Everything taste like it has been previously frozen. Saturday was the last time we will visit Atwood's bakery.

We went to have a Saturday morning breakfast here. The food was great and the waitress was nice and prompt. However after we finished we stopped to get some sweet treats before we left. I was very obviously waiting for service. I continued waiting....and waiting....finally a young lady asked who was next, gesturing her arms like no one could understand her. Passing through Alexandria and hunger for pastry and coffee. My coconut cream pie was AMAZING!!! Loved the crust ! Filling was not too sweet and was so tasty as if they did not cut corners. Impressed with the selection of goodies to chose from! And thank you for the complimentary coffee.

King Cakes are way over priced and don't even taste that good at all. Walmart ones taste much better and are only a fourth of the price.
I live in Pennsylvania now but Lived in Alexandria, La for six years...I ordered a King Cake from Atwoods Bakery and we received it in a day's delivery. I had to freeze it, as my grandchildren were not able to come to decorate it until the weekend. We had a fantastic time..and I sent pictures in a pvt message to Atwood's Bakery. Thank y'all for being there to send these wonderful King Cakes out across the country!
