Assad ignored a bump on my dog said it's nothing don't worry about it. Well now it's the size of a quarter and now has to be cut out which means her teeth will be exposed. All he worried about was my next appointment for vaccines. Which I denied but kept saying we'll talk about next appointment. My dog is 13 she doesn't have many years left so it's pointless just a way to make more money. Not to mention that they charge way to much for everything. Love Johnstown Veterinary Associates. Took excellent care of Rylo and Finley. Everyone always showed professionalism, caring, and compassion. We were sad to leave them due to a move. But, if ever come back we will be right back.
I've been taking my dogs to JVA for three years and I can't imagine taking them anywhere else. Dr. Hammer is one of the only veterinarians that works well with my reactive Australian Cattle Dog. Many other vets won't even try, but she was calm and patient during their first meeting and it has made all the difference. The staff is very amenable to the needs of different dogs and they get you in and out pretty quickly.
A few days ago, I brought my sick kitten, Nyla, in for an emergency visit. Poor Nyla didn’t make it, and passed away that very day. However, I want to commend Dr. Assad and the staff for what I consider to be going above and beyond in showing kindness and respect. Missy waited on me, and was extremely kind and understanding, as were all of the women. Dr. Assad was gentle and respectful, but also pointedly honest, as well, which I much appreciate. Hi, I am still grieving the loss of my Gunner. He passed away just last saturday (september 20, 2025) . He was such a beautiful dog and the best of friends. He stopped eating one day. He was eating less and less till he stopped completely. I did have a problem getting an appointment. Thats the only bad thing I can say, and its only because they didnt have any "urgent" openings that day, but had urgent openings for the next day but I had to call the next morning to get one of those openings.
